A family-friendly hub in Salzburg’s Saalachtal.

The family and hiking paradise of Lofer, in the north of Pinzgau’s Saalachtal, is located at 639 m altitude, in the centre of the Loferer Becken pool, surrounded by the impressive mountain ranges of the Loferer and Reither Mountains.

Lofer is the main town in Salzburg’s Saalachtal, other towns in the valley include St.Martin bei Lofer, Unken, and Weißbach bei Lofer.

District towns in Lofer include Kreuzfeld, Scheffsnoth, Faistau, Hallenstein and Au/Mayrberg.

Although it spans just 55 km² and in terms of surface-area is the smallest of towns in Saalachtal, Lofer has 2000 inhabitants, making it the most populated of the four towns in Saalachtal and thanks to its central location is the focal point of Saalachtal life.

In summer it is an ideal starting point for excursions and hikes; in winter the big community of skiing and snowboarding fans meet at the cable cars and lifts in Loferer Alm, to indulge their passion in the unspoilt Loferer mountains.

Many visitors also come to us just to enjoy a leisurely stroll through the town centre and so some window shopping, to sample one or another delicious treat from the Saalachtal cuisine in our restaurant or just to enjoy the romantic atmosphere.
